Animal Care Specialist

Job Classification: Part-time

Job Purpose: The Racine Zoo is seeking to hire an experienced and energetic Zookeeper to join our fantastic team. The desired candidate has previous zookeeping experience with a variety of taxa and is able to adapt to various routines as scheduled. The Zookeeper is responsible for daily husbandry of animals as it relates to the animal’s physiological and psychological well-being, and for the general maintenance of exhibits. This position could also include diet preparation for the collection, inventory of diet supplies, and general kitchen maintenance.

AmeriCorps Animal Ambassador Coordinator

Reports to: Curator of Animal Care and Conservation Education

Start Date: ASAP

Job Purpose: Coordinate training of ambassador animals and ensure consistent training for AmeriCorps members, Zoo staff, and volunteers. Mentor AmeriCorps members in animal training, and maintain communication between Conservation Education and Animal Welfare departments. Works directly under Conservation Education Manager and will work closely alongside Racine Zoo AmeriCorps Program Coordinator to ensure guidance and mentorship for AmeriCorps members.

Racine Zoo AmeriCorps Program Member

Reports to: AmeriCorps Program Coordinator

Start/End Date: August 23, 2021 through June 3, 2022

Job Purpose: The primary responsibility of an AmeriCorps program member is to provide direct services to Racine Zoo AmeriCorps program participants via educational interpretive programming, as well as effective delivery of pre- and post-intervention assessments. You will assist in creation and delivery of educational interpretive programming as well as animal handling and assist in maintenance of trained behaviors. You will facilitate volunteer recruitment and training and write reflections on service for Zoo and AmeriCorps publications. You'll also need to act as a positive role model to students in the Racine Zoo AmeriCorps program.

Special Events Specialist

Reports to: Special Events Manager

Job Classification: Seasonal / Part time (hours based on events)

Start Date: ASAP for 2021 spring/summer

Job Purpose: We are looking for age 18+ enthusiastic individuals to assist in setup, break down, hosting of events throughout the Zoo.

Food Service Worker in the Grill

Reports to: Operations Manager

Job Classification: Seasonal / Part time

Job Purpose: We are looking for someone with a friendly and outgoing personality that is motivated for excellence and is not afraid to work hard. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for the Racine Zoo guests in our food service locations. Tasks include opening and closing duties, running the register, preparing food items, maintaining a clean environment throughout the building, excellent communication with the leadership team and excellent customer service to our guests.
